Introducing: Pinoy Coco Pandesal

The competition may be stiff in the baking industry, but Philippine bakers are always quick to set this aside and work together for a good cause. The Pinoy Pandesal, for one, put good quality and nutritious yet affordable bread on everyone’s table. Baked into delicious and nutrient-packed 25-gram buns using the same recipe, packed by 10s into the same plastic bags, and sold in different bakeshops for P23.50 per bag, the Pinoy Pandesal showed the unity of Philippine bakers.
Now comes the upgraded version, Pinoy Coco Pandesal, which was successfully launched in all major supermarket chains in the National Capital Region (NCR) just last June 29, 2022. It is made with a 90/10 wheat/coco flour blend.
“The addition of coco flour has three major advantages. It has three times more protein, five times more fiber, and lower glycemic index (GI),” says Johnlu Koa, founder, and CEO of The French Baker and president of Philippine Baking Industry Group Inc. (PhilBaking).
Pinoy Coco Pandesal is the product of a collaboration among three private bakery industry associations (PhilBaking, Philippine Federation of Bakers Association Inc., and Filipino-Chinese Bakery Association Inc.) with three government agencies (Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, and Philippine Coconut Authority of the Department of Agriculture).
Pinoy Coco Pandesal is now available in supermarkets, groceries, and community stores, including all branches of The French Baker, at P23.50 per bag.
